KPA Wins Two APA Awards

The Kentucky Psychiatric Association won two awards at the recent Annual Meeting held in Philadelphia in May. The Newsletter won for continuing excellence in 2001-2002.

KPA also won the PAN Award (Public Affairs Network) for Coalition Building in the mid-size district branch division. KPA belongs to 28 different state and local coalitions. As a result, we have been increased the visibility of mental health issues and psychiatry in general. This has helped educate the various members of these coalitions.

KPA often asked to sit on state advisory committees, and to support issues of concern to the mental health commuity. Coalition activities, press coverage and member involvement have increased. The number of KPA members, especially residents, actively involved is at an all-time high.

KPA has won the PAN Awards five times in the past. These awards are given every two years.
