Call to Action

Tough budget times may mean an up to 10% reduction in the state's human services budget including mental health. A new coalition has been formed, 847K; the name stands for the 847,000 people with disabilities in the state of Kentucky or about 21% of Kentucky's population. The Kentucky Mental Health Coalition voted to join this 847K and to participate in the effort to stop these cuts. We urge all our readers to contact their legislators with the two-point message: 1). Do not cut human services budgets and 2). Find new revenue streams.

If you don't know who your state Senator and Representative are, you can call 1-888-868-3762 (votesmart) and give them your zip code. They will give you their names. They will also give out their address if asked. Information on the legislators is also available on the web site www.lrc.ky.state.us.
It is very important that all legislators are contacted as soon as possible.
